LYSOA Inc. was founded to provide relief to distressed and unprivileged youth in Lynn, Massachusetts and to combat juvenile delinquency.

Lynn Youth street outreach advocacy

Who Is LYSOA? LYSOA Inc. is a 501© 3 Community Based Organization. The mission of Lynn Youth Street Outreach Advocacy (LYSOA) is to empower the highest risk youth in our community to reach a positive purpose in life. LYSOA provides advocacy and outreach services to all high-risk youth, young adults, and their families in the community.

What We Do: We organize and conduct outreach activities, by encouraging involvement in community development, assisting in job search, providing case management for our participants and their families, street outreach advocacy and provide assistance to the juvenile court system. LYSOA provides service to youth between the ages of 12-24 years old. LYSOA’s purpose is to reach out to youth, young adults and their parents lacking a positive direction in life. LYSOA interacts on a street level, building relationships and offering the following:  services such as: job search, education referrals, community development, and family development. In collaboration with the Lynn Juvenile Probation Department we assist our youth with the different types of behavioral challenges they are facing on a daily basis. We also offer our youth an opportunity to find solutions to their differences other than violence.

LYSOA also offers our at-risk and proven risk conflict resolution by using mediation techniques. Our participants (at risk and proven risk) receive an initial basic assessment, which consists of questions regarding their childhood to present in order to provide the appropriate services, and then referred to counseling providers for further evaluation.

Teresa DiGregorio

Teresa DiGregorio - Co-Founder and Executive Director- (781) 560-3071 -  teresa.digregorio@lysoa.org

Teresa DiGregorio the Executive Director and Co-founder of LYSOA, was a rebellious teen that lead to her living on her own at 16 years old, and becoming a teen Mom at 18 years old. Teresa fell into the grips of drug addiction in her early 20’s. Fortunately, in her early 30's, Teresa found a new way of life without drugs, was able to her GED, and provide a better life for her children. Teresa continued her education, attending college and working hard to support herself and her children.

After meeting Co-Founder, and Program Director Antonio Gutierrez, and discovering the challenges they both faced as children and young adults, they realized there was a desperate need for a program to help local youth that were going through similar childhood troubles. They felt that they had something to offer the youth in their community to help kids and teens find the tools and guidance for better way of life. From there, LYSOA, a nonprofit organization street outreach program was born.

"I am excited to join the Lawrence team as a new member, bringing with me a passion for empowering youth to realize their full potential. My experiences have taught me that every young person, no matter their background or circumstances, has the ability to envision and work towards a promising future because I was once in their shoes. I am here to provide a supportive environment where they can explore their strengths and aspirations and feel comfortable speaking about their wants and needs for the future. It is truly rewarding to be part of a job that believes in the transformative power of guidance and encouragement, and I look forward to put in my part to this mission alongside my colleagues to not let our Youth slip through the cracks."
